MLB Royals vs White Sox same game parlay today 9/1 (+350) | Pickswise

This AL Central series is wrapping up with this game before the teams head into their weekend series with different divisional opponents. It’s been one of the weakest divisions all season, but of course someone has to win it. That’s what the White Sox are still fighting alongside the Twins and Guardians. Meanwhile, the Royals are riding out the season while evaluating some great rookies in MJ Melendez and Bobby Witt Jr.

This series could go a long way to deciding Chicago’s chances at the postseason, so let’s break down how the finale should play out. Along with this same game parlay, be sure to check out our MLB picks for all of today’s games.

Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our same game parlay.

Attacking the total for this game seems like a much stronger play rather than predicting a side. Their records may not suggest it, but the Royals and White Sox are both just as inconsistent. Kansas City traded away their key players at the trade deadline, while Chicago can’t keep theirs healthy. The Sox entered the season projected to win nearly 100 games, yet are struggling to maintain a .500 record. That’s largely because they’ve allowed weaker teams like the Royals to beat them. After an upset in the opener, KC had beaten the Sox 5 of their last 6 meetings. The Royals also demonstrated quite the see-saw this weekend.

They lost their series opener 13-5 to the Padres, then won the finale 15-7. That again supports why they are unpredictable, but there should be plenty of runs in this matchup. They’ve pushed back Daniel Lynch’s start to tomorrow, likely because the Sox hit lefties well. That means they’re now starting a different Daniel — Mengden. His only appearances of this season have been out of the bullpen for just 4 games in June. Sox starter Johnny Cueto allowed 7 runs in 2 innings against the Diamondbacks in his most recent start. Similarly, his last start against the Royals was an 8-3 loss. With KC having the league’s worst bullpen and the Sox having the 9th-worst, expect plenty of runs.

While the entire Sox lineup smashes lefties, it’s no surprise that we’re targeting Jose Abreu for this play. He’s a former MVP that has led the team in total bases for 9 straight seasons. Abreu has kept this team afloat throughout injuries to guys such as Tim Anderson and Eloy Jimenez. He’s feasted on the Royals this season, batting .303 against them and hitting this prop in the series opener. He did so with multiple hits, helping to add to his 151 on the year. That’s the most in the American League and 4th most in the entire league. That’s also helped him accumulate 222 total bases, the 10th-most in the AL. He’ll be out to reach 30 doubles on the season, and is in a prime position to do so.

Let’s cap things off with a guy that is the opposite of Abreu in terms of career experience. Bobby Witt Jr. entered 2022 with some crazy hype and was the overwhelming favorite to win AL Rookie of the Year. While that looks to be Mariners Julio Rodriguez’s award to lose, Witt has come on strong as of late. Specifically, he’s taken this team over since they traded away Andrew Benintendi and Whit Merrifield. Along with fellow rookie MJ Melendez, they’re the 1-2 hitters leading this lineup. However, Witt leads the team by far with 208 total bases. He’s a perfect balance with 22 doubles, 19 home runs, and 6 triples — the 2nd-most in the league. It’s not a huge sample size, but he’s 2-for-4 against Sox starter Cueto, so he too should hit this prop like he already has in the first 2 games of this series.
